The Procedure Suite provides expert care for a variety of procedures performed at St. Jude.
The Procedure Suite team at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital cares for patients who have complex medical procedures. They also care for patients as they wake up from anesthesia.
Patients go to the Procedure Suite for many types of procedures. Most involve sedation or general anesthesia. The most common procedures are bone marrow aspiration and biopsy and lumbar punctures.
Two family members can stay with the patient before anesthesia and in the recovery areas.
Your child will have a primary clinic visit before going to the Procedure Suite. This visit ensures that your child is medically ready for the procedure.
When it is time for your child’s procedure, the Procedure Suite team will call your cell phone or page overhead. If your child is in isolation, the team will come get you and your child from the clinic and walk with you to the Procedure Suite.
The Procedure Suite team are highly trained in performing complex medical procedures. They also help your child recover safely from anesthesia and sedation.
The Procedure Suite is located on the 1st floor of the Patient Care Center. The area has 4 procedure rooms and 8 recovery bays.
