Nurse Leader of the Year Award

The Nurse Leader of the Year award honors a nurse leader who embodies the values of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and makes a meaningful difference in the area or programs they lead. The winner is strongly admired by both their peers and clinical nurses. Nursing leaders play a vital role in shaping the culture of nursing in our institution, and we want to recognize those who go above and beyond the call of duty. 

2024 Nurse Leader of the Year honoree

Sarah Hunter of St. Jude Surgical Services was awarded the 2024 Nurse Leader of the Year award to recognize her outstanding leadership and contributions to the Radiology Perianesthesia team. 

Since becoming the clinical staff leader in 2019, Hunter has worked to make improvements for both patients and staff. She helps create schedules that reduce waiting times for patients, and she listens to her team’s needs. She handles tough situations with kindness and grace. And she always puts the patients and her team’s needs first. 

Hunter is a mentor and friend who brings everyone together while inspiring her team members to do their best.
