The Bee Award

This award recognizes support staff who provide exceptional care and service.

2024 Annual Nursing Gala

The Bee Award recognizes support staff at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital who provide exceptional care and service to patients and families. 

This award complements the hospital’s DAISY Award, which is an international award that recognizes extraordinary nurses. Just as bees interact with daisies so the flowers can bloom, support staff and nurses work together to help patients heal and thrive.

Bee Award criteria

Support staff eligible to receive this award are:

  • Patient care associates
  • Patient care inventory specialists
  • Nursing care associates 
  • Surgical/scrub techs
  • Sterile Processing Department techs
  • Central Sterile Supply techs
  • Patient representatives 

Patients, caregivers, and colleagues can nominate a support staff member.

  • Self-nominations are not accepted.
  • The identity of the person submitting the nomination is not revealed.
  • The nomination is reviewed by the St. Jude Recognition Committee of Nursing Shared Governance. 

Make a nomination

Nominations are accepted at any time, but 1 recipient will be honored each year. If a nominee is selected for the Bee Award, the person who made the nomination will be notified.

Fanny Williams

Fanny Williams

Fanny Williams, a certified surgical technologist in Surgical Services, was honored with the BEE Award to recognize her hard work, kindness, and dedication to patient care. 

Williams inspires others through her cheerful attitude and passion for St. Jude. She is committed to helping colleagues grow professionally. Williams led a workshop for operating room nurse residents to teach the basics of surgical setup and sterility. Her contributions have made sure that St. Jude maintains the highest standards of patient care, leading to improved patient outcomes. 

Williams also volunteers her time to bring joy to patients and families. She leads craft workshops at The Domino’s Village, a housing facility for St. Jude families. What truly sets Williams apart is her readiness to jump in and help whenever needed.
