The Linda R. Hajar Family Resource Center at St. Jude

The Linda R. Hajar Family Resource Center supports patient families at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The center provides a quiet place for families to perform school and work work-related activities.

The Family Resource Center is located in Family Commons on the 2nd floor of the Patient Care Center.

The center is an important part of the patient family-centered care philosophy at St. Jude. Patient family-centered care is health care that focuses on the family as a child’s primary source of strength, support, and well-being.
 

Services we provide

The Linda R. Hajar Family Resource Center offers computer workstations, printers, and enclosed booths, where you can take calls and have meetings. For those who prefer to bring and work on their own devices, we offer Wi-Fi. Also, the TechShare Program in this area allows families to borrow electronic devices to use during their time at the hospital.

On request, our staff can help you find the most reliable health and medical information online.

We invite you to come in and:

  • Research medical topics, including those related to your child’s diagnosis and care
  • Check emails
  • Print documents, make copies, make scans, and send faxes
  • Read and borrow fun books for children, teens, and adults
  • Get documents notarized; we have notaries on staff
  • Escape the busy hospital areas for a while

All services and materials are free to St. Jude patient families.

Dedicated to Linda R. Hajar

Dedicated January 18, 2003, the Family Resource Center was named after the late Linda R. Hajar. She was an avid St. Jude supporter for more than 3 decades. Her husband, Paul, was a second generation ALSAC/St. Jude Board member and past Board chair.

The couple co-chaired a fundraising dinner and auction for 13 years called “Keep the Magic Alive.” These events raised more than $1.5 million for St. Jude.

Linda, who died of cancer in October 2001, is remembered for her devotion to her family, friends, and St. Jude.

I feel this [center] is a very fitting memorial for my wife. Linda was very inquisitive, especially when it came to her diagnosis. It was important to her to learn as much as she could. This facility is a bright and cheery place, and she was a bright and cheery gal.
