Acute Care Clinic

The St. Jude Acute Care Clinic cares for active patients who require unscheduled visits.

Your child may have unexpected, more serious (acute) medical problems that happen outside of their scheduled clinic visits at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. If this happens, speak with your child’s primary care team first. They may ask you to visit the St. Jude Acute Care Clinic. Doing so may help your child be seen more quickly.

Your child will be treated by staff who can provide specialized care.

Services we provide

We provide care in 2 locations based on different operation hours:

  • In the Acute Care Clinic during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. If your child’s primary clinic tells you to go to the Acute Care Clinic, please go there to check in.
  • In the Infusion Center after normal business hours: weeknights from 5 p.m.–8 a.m., weekends, and holidays. If your child has a medical problem during these times, please call the Infusion Center at 901-595-2441 before you go.  You will speak with a nurse with special training who will ask screening questions. This helps the team to make a quick assessment of the level of care your child may need and the action you may need to take.

Please have the following information ready for the nurse when you call:

The nurse will tell you what you need to do next.

St. Jude does not have an emergency room

If your child has a medical emergency and needs help right away, please call 911. The Acute Care Clinic does not accept patients brought by ambulance.

The Infusion Center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays, with the Acute Care Clinic team providing care after normal business hours.

Your Acute Care Clinic team
