What is fundraising for nonprofits?

Fundraising for nonprofits is the act of collecting donations on behalf of a cause. When you fundraise for St. Jude, you're joining a community of supporters all working to help St. Jude continue to lead the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

The funds you raise help us provide customized care for some of the world's sickest children regardless of their race, ethnicity, beliefs or ability to pay.

Why is fundraising important?

Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors. Fundraisers like you help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.

Fundraising helps support patients like Pablo

Pablo Jose, who lives in Guatemala, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in 2021 at the age of 5. He received treatment in his home country, but after 18 months his symptoms returned. Doctors referred him to St. Jude, where he received chemotherapy, radiation therapy and a bone marrow transplant.

"For me, St. Jude is another world," said Pablo's dad. "It is the best in every sense of the word, not only the people who work at St. Jude but the medicine they offer."
