What is an Instagram fundraiser and why should I start one?
Similar to Facebook fundraising or Tik Tok fundraising, Instagram fundraising allows you to raise donations for organizations, like St. Jude, from the comfort of your home. Supporters can use Instagram to contribute to and promote the causes they believe in, helping to make a real difference.
When you create a fundraiser for an approved nonprofit on Instagram, the fundraiser link will be accessible in your profile bio for 30 days. You can also share that fundraising link on your posts, stories and Instagram Live videos during those 30 days that the fundraiser is active.
How to add fundraiser to your Instagram bio
One of the most effective ways to fundraise on Instagram is to add a fundraiser to your bio.
- Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
- Select the “+” button toward the bottom of your screen.
- Choose the image you want to share your fundraiser on, then select “Next.”
- Complete any preferred image editing or cropping, then select “Next.”
- Scroll down until you see “Add fundraiser.”
- Type in the name of the nonprofit you are looking to support, then select “Done.”
- Select the “Share” button to post to your feed.
From here, the fundraising link will automatically be added to your Instagram profile bio.

Creative Instagram fundraising ideas
Once you’ve established your fundraising campaign, consider using these ideas to spread the word.
Social media challenges
Social media challenges are a fun, low-cost way to spread awareness and raise funds for important causes. Start a social media challenge on Instagram by posting a video of yourself completing your selected challenge, connecting it back to your cause in the post caption and calling on friends and family to do the same.
Sharing stories and statistics
Sharing related personal stories and cause-related statistics on Instagram is another great way to spread awareness and boost your fundraising efforts. Consider reviewing your cause’s website or reaching out to see if they recommend any specific messaging or language you can easily share.
Photo contests
Like social media challenges, hosting a photo contest is a way for you and your community to get creative while raising funds for your chosen cause. Consider asking your followers to share related images or artwork online. Request a small donation to enter, and the winners can receive a small prize (such as a gift card or related merchandise).
Live workshops or events
Are you someone who enjoys performing? What about teaching? If you have a skill set you’d like to share, consider hosting an Instagram Live workshop or concert. Audience members or participants can be asked to make a small donation to listen in.
Digital art sales
Creating digital incentives through Instagram in exchange for donations toward your cause is a cost-effective way to raise funds and awareness. Consider creating digital artwork such as phone or computer screensavers, digital stickers, graphics or digital prints.

Why fundraise for St. Jude?
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.
St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% in 1962 to 80% today. We won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.
Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When you support St. Jude, you can help make cures possible for kids with cancer. Together, we can save more lives.
Meet St. Jude patient Eliza and her family
Eliza's mom and dad felt hopeless when their 4-month-old "ray of sunshine" was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, an aggressive eye cancer. St. Jude gave them hope and years of memories ahead.
Thanks to our supporters, St. Jude provides customized care for some of the world's sickest children regardless of their race, ethnicity, beliefs or ability to pay. Your donation helps St. Jude give kids with cancer the chance they deserve.
Instagram fundraising helps us find cures for childhood cancer
Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors. St. Jude has helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% in 1962 to 80% today. We won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
