About the lab

Dr. Jinghui Zhang is a computational biologist interested in studying how genomic variants contribute to cancer initiation, progression, and therapeutic resistance. By developing innovative computational algorithms, mapping the landscapes of the somatic and germline genomes, and establishing world’s largest data sharing resource for pediatric cancer, her research has provided fundamental insights for the present-day precision treatment of pediatric cancer. She is on the Web of Science’s 2020 list of Highly Cited Researchers and a recipient of the 2019 AACR team science award. She has mentored 9 trainees/staff to independent faculty positions, and is the inaugural Chair of the Department of Computational Biology at St. Jude. In 2023, she was elected as a Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology.
