About John D. Schuetz

Dr. John D. Schuetz is a member of the St. Jude faculty and was the Vice-Chair of the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences until 2021. He earned his PhD from the Medical College of Virginia and has received numerous awards for his contributions to the pharmaceutical sciences field. He has noted involvement with the American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET), where he served as ASPET President in 2017, was named a fellow in 2021 and was most recently selected as inaugural editor of ASPET Discovery, a new journal that launched in 2025. Schuetz was elected Chair of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) section S (Pharmaceutical Sciences) and his nomination as Chair of the 2027 Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on multidrug efflux pairs with duties in 2025 as Vice Chair. In his work at St. Jude, Dr. Schuetz leads his laboratory in investigations that aim to uncover the mechanisms and pathways that impact therapeutic drug response in children with cancer.
