Divisional Focus

The Division of Neurology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital plays an integral role in the care of all St. Jude patients who encounter complications to their brain, spine or nerves as either a direct result of their disease process or as a result of their treatment. Our neurologists are an essential part of the treatment team in the diagnosis and treatment for all treatment services at St. Jude which includes not only those children diagnosed with cancer, but other catastrophic diseases as well. Acute and chronic neurological side effects are common with the evaluation and management of the catastrophic diseases of the St. Jude patient population. Patients may evolve new conditions through the years which may include but are not limited to seizures, central and peripheral neuropathies, headaches, cerebrovascular accidents, dizziness, and fatigue.

At St. Jude, the Division of Neurology is a consult only service. Simply stated, this means that the department provides service only to St. Jude patients who experience a neurological problem as a direct result of their primary catastrophic disease or its treatment.
