Why is raising awareness important?
With so many things competing for our attention these days, charitable causes sometimes get lost amidst the noise. When you take the time to help raise awareness for a specific cause or charity, you provide a valuable service by getting the word out. The more people who know, understand and care about a cause or charity's mission, the better the organization's chances of having the impact it strives for.
Raising awareness for St. Jude helps us continue our lifesaving mission of advancing cures and means of prevention for catastrophic pediatric diseases through research and treatment.
1. Spread the word on social media
Social media is a great place to share fundraising and awareness campaigns. Whether it's on Facebook, TikTok or another platform, your campaign has the potential to reach hundreds, maybe even thousands, of people and encourage them to support your cause. If you want to start an awareness or fundraising campaign on social media, check out our "storytelling for awareness and fundraising” guide for some helpful tips.
2. Host an awareness or fundraising event
Hosting an awareness or fundraising event can be a multifunctional tool for supporting your cause. Whether it be a fitness event, a video game marathon or something else unique to your interests, these types of events can both raise general awareness for your cause as well as raise funds. Check out our tips on how to plan a fundraiser.
3. Help recruit volunteers
Encouraging friends, family, coworkers and others to volunteer for your cause or charity is an easy way to raise both awareness and provide resources. For many charities, monetary donations are the best way to make a difference. But donating your time — and finding others to join you — can be equally impactful for some causes.

Raising awareness helps St. Jude kids like Ashtyn
Ashtyn was 5 when she was diagnosed with medulloblastoma in 2018. "It's a terrible situation, to have a child with cancer, but St. Jude makes it less stressful on parents," her mom said. "They've made this a positive experience."

Why raise awareness and funds for St. Jude?
Families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.
When St. Jude opened in 1962, childhood cancer was considered incurable. Since then, St. Jude has helped push the overall survival rate from 20% to more than 80%, and we won't stop until no child dies from cancer.
Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When you support St. Jude, you help give kids with cancer around the world that chance. Together, we can save more lives.
Make a difference for the children of St. Jude
Because of your support, we can provide children cutting-edge treatments not covered by insurance, at no cost to families.
Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors. When you get involved with St. Jude, you become part of our mission to save more lives.
