Bilal Mazhar Qureshi, MBBS, FCPS

Dr. Bilal Qureshi is a radiation oncologist interested in childhood cancer care.

As an undergraduate, he volunteered with and helped to lead a student-run NGO that focused on providing medicines, blood products and diagnostic services to underserved patients at a public hospital in Karachi.

He earned his MBBS degree in 2007 from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. As a medical student he pursued multiple elective rotations that fostered his passion for radiation oncology.

In 2014, he completed his postgraduate training in radiation oncology at The Aga Khan University, Karachi. There, Dr. Qureshi participated in site-specific multidisciplinary tumor boards. He was awarded a fellowship from the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.

Currently Dr. Qureshi is an assistant professor and head of Radiation Oncology at The Aga Khan University. He has a keen interest in peer-reviewed practice, multidisciplinary care, and quality improvement.

He is a site-specific pediatric radiation oncologist who collaborates to provide multidisciplinary management of pediatric tumors within and outside the hospital. He is an active member of the Pakistan Society of Pediatric Oncology and aids national treatment protocols.

“I am pursuing a Master’s of Science in Global Child Health to improve my research, administrative and leadership skills,” he says. “My goal is to better serve children with cancer, including learning learn how to gather scientific evidence in resource-limited settings, which is where most children with cancer live. My aim is that children everywhere have access to comprehensive, efficient and integrated radiation treatment services as part of evidence-based, multidisciplinary childhood cancer care programs.”
