She is also the supervisor of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology 2nd Fellowship training program from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan.

She completed her Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Science (MBBS) degree from Quaid i Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. After completing her degrees Faizan worked as a medical officer in the Pediatric Oncology Department at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, an experience that led her to pursue pediatric hematology oncology as her future specialty.

Faizan completed post-graduate training in Pediatric Medicine from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan and achieved Membership and Fellowship from the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan in 2007. Faizan continued to build her skills through a fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology & Bone Marrow Transplant from Birmingham Children Hospital, Birmingham, United Kingdom, in 2015.

Her interest in pediatric oncology stems from her love for children and zeal to help people in need. Pediatric oncology is her passion. The strength of little warriors with life threatening malignancies and desire of the families to get the best treatment for their children keeps her motivated and is her biggest inspiration. She feels lucky that she works in an area where she can positively impact patients’ lives. Her main interest areas are pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors and supportive care. She is a recipient of the “My Child Matters Award” for successfully completing a project with St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Sanofi Espoir Foundation in 2019.

Faizan decided to pursue the Master’s in Global Child Health program at St. Jude to improve her understanding of global health care systems, biostatistics and research. She feels that this program will provide her a platform of shared learning from global leaders. This will help her bridge the gap from knowledge and expertise to being a part of policy making & implementation thus enabling improved care of the most vulnerable pediatric cancer patients in low-resource countries.
