Originally from Mumbai, India, Dr. Soniya Naomi Pinto has extensive training in neuroradiology and is particularly interested in using imaging to understand CNS toxicities of cancer therapy. She spent 2 years at Weill Cornell Medical College conducting research on fetal MRI and radiation safety in children. Her ultimate goal is to devise a non-contrast imaging protocol to characterize changes in the brain at a cellular level in children with CNS toxicities resulting from cancer treatment.
Pinto earned her MBBS from Dr. DY Patil Medical College in Mumbai before continuing her fellowship training in diagnostic radiology and neuroradiology at several US-based institutions. She hopes that the Master of Science in Clinical Investigation program will provide her with the training in grantsmanship, epidemiology, and manuscript writing that she needs to transition to a clinician scientist role.
