More than 250 attendees spanning Spanish-language media, celebrities and content creators gathered last weekend for the St. Jude Promesa y Esperanza® seminar in support of the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: Finding cures. Saving children.®
At the seminar, attendees learned more about work by St. Jude in advancing research and treatment for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Guests were also welcomed to the St. Jude campus where they heard from St. Jude researchers, met patients, their families and experienced performances by Latin artists. Guests included DannyLux, Domino Saints, Las Fenix, Mariachi Campanas de America, Oscar Ortiz, Septima Band and keynote speaker New York Mets’ Carlos ‘Cookie’ Carrasco.
“We are so grateful to the outpouring of support each year from the Promesa y Esperanza community, who are connected by their love of music and the mission of St. Jude,” said Richard C. Shadyac, Jr., President and CEO of ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “We believe that every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment, and this amazing community helps St. Jude give kids with cancer that chance.”
The annual event prepares Spanish-format partners for the national and local Promesa y Esperanza broadcasts calling on audiences to support St. Jude with a monthly donation through the Ángeles de Esperanza program. Participating stations include TelevisaUnivision, Bustos Media, Latino Media Network and VP Broadcasting with over 120 stations across multiple formats in more than 85 markets. Since it began, Promesa y Esperanza has raised more than $160 million to help St. Jude kids and families. Campaigns like this help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food, so they can focus on helping their child live.
