What is Children’s Day?

Children's Day or National Children’s Day, is celebrated in several countries to recognize children and promote their well-being. Children's Day reminds everyone that children are our most vulnerable group and, therefore, suffer the most from crises and problems in the world. The day also presents the opportunity to celebrate and spend time with the children in our lives.

When is Children’s Day?

Children’s Day is celebrated on different days in different countries. The United States celebrates National Children's Day on the second Sunday of June. Mexico celebrates it annually on April 30.

World Children’s Day is on November 20 each year and was established to bring awareness to children’s welfare. The date commemorates the U.N. General Assembly adopting the Declaration of the Rights of the Child (1959) and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989).
