Mt. Kilimanjaro

Fundraising commitment: $10,000

Explore the variations in landscape and climate on the way up the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Spend time capturing breathtaking photos of your surroundings as you move from jungle to high desert, to snowy terrain. You'll climb one of the most exciting routes on the mountain, but it is still manageable for the average adventurer.

What's included in your St. Jude adventure?

Transportation to and from the airport, food, lodging, guides, porters and permits are included in your St. Jude Adventure. Participants will be responsible for airline tickets to and from the destination, gear, individual trip insurance and required personal supplemental overseas medical insurance, in addition to meeting their minimum fundraising goal. An initial $500 deposit will be required to complete your St. Jude Heroes registration, which will be refunded upon meeting your minimum fundraising goal.

St Jude Children’s Research Hospital is working with Embark Exploration Co. to bring exciting opportunities that allow St. Jude Heroes to take part in once-in-a-lifetime adventures, all while raising awareness and funds for the mission of St. Jude.

St. Jude cancer survivor Tom climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro — twice!

The first time Tom climbed Mountain Kilimanjaro, a guide told him, “This will be the hardest thing you have ever done in your life.” Tom had smiled. He’d done something harder.

Tom was just 2 when he was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of the retina, and treated at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
