Alejandro's story
Ines and David think of their son Alejandro every day. Their active and curious boy would have been nearing adulthood by now. They often wonder about the young man he never got to be.
When Alejandro was 2 years old, he was diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a brain tumor of the cerebellum. The cerebellum controls balance and coordinated movements. Alejandro underwent surgery to remove the tumor and was then referred to St. Jude for his ongoing care.
At St. Jude, Alejandro’s treatment included radiation therapy and chemotherapy. As the end date of his treatment approached, his family prepared for a joyous homecoming.
However, they were devastated to learn that Alejandro’s cancer had returned. St. Jude doctors started Alejandro on a new treatment protocol that included chemotherapy.
Alejandro passed away in October 2011.
Today, Alejandro's parents honor his memory through their continued commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, where Alejandro was treated. The couple often participate in fundraisers and volunteer in the annual radiothons for St. Jude.
Every child deserves a chance to live their best life and celebrate every moment. When you support St. Jude, you can help make cures possible for kids with cancer. Together, we can save more lives.
