When she was nine months old, Emma stopped trying to sit up.
Her worried parents took her in for a check-up, and their world was turned upside down. Tests revealed that Emma had a mass on her brain.
Her family was told that she might not live until her biopsy just four days later.
She made it to her biopsy and was referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® where she was diagnosed with ATRT.
Emma’s St. Jude care team put her on a treatment plan that included eight rounds of chemotherapy and proton radiation.
“St. Jude allowed us to focus on Emma’s rehabilitation instead of getting an additional job. I can’t imagine the stress of that on top of what we’ve already gone through,” said Emma’s mom.
Today, Emma is back home – playing, laughing and being a healthy two-year-old little girl.
