When José was born, he brought joy into his parents’ lives.
Though they were so excited to bring their little boy home, they were also terrified to face an unknown future.
A few days after he was born, José stopped eating and he was losing weight. José was fighting with all he had but nothing improved.
His parents grew more and more afraid. So, they took their baby to their local doctor who confirmed what they had feared most: José had brain cancer.
When José grew strong enough, his local doctors performed surgery to remove the mass in his brain and referred him to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Families, like José's, will never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.
In August 2020, José’s family arrived at St. Jude, where doctors placed him on a special treatment plan to try and save his life.
I am so grateful that St. Jude has given us everything we need. We don't have to worry about bills. I didn't know St. Jude was going to help us so much.
