St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is home to 11 scientists named to the 2024 list of Highly Cited Researchers.

Eleven scientists from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital are among those recognized on the 2024 list of Highly Cited Researchers. The annual list, which was announced today, is compiled by the Web of Science™ together with qualitative analysis performed by experts at the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI)™ at Clarivate.

A Highly Cited Researcher is considered one who has demonstrated significant and broad influence in their fields of investigation. The list represents a small fraction of scientists worldwide who have disproportionately contributed to extending the boundaries of knowledge through innovation and discovery.

Each researcher on the list has authored multiple scientific papers ranking in the top 1% by citations for their fields and publication year over the past decade. Citations refer to how often a published research paper is included as a reference by other investigators in their work, which is a measure of that research paper’s reach and influence.

“Citations form a foundational layer of knowledge that enable the scientific community to build on existing discoveries and advance research and patient care with confidence,” said Kelly Caudle, PharmD, PhD, St. Jude Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a Highly Cited Researcher.

St. Jude scientists on the 2024 Highly Cited Researchers list represent eight departments:

The 2024 list includes 6,636 researchers from 59 countries and regions, 36.4% of which hail from institutions in the United States.

“I’m honored to have been named to the Highly Cited Researcher list over the past several years,” said Tsai. “It’s a reflection of the broad impact of our work on genome editing technologies and therapies, led by my talented lab members and in collaboration with outstanding scientists worldwide.”
