A long-running two-day golf and gala event in Dallas, Texas, raised more than $1.1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, topping the $1 million mark for the third year in a row.
The St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party brought together more than 1,100 St. Jude supporters on October 22 at the Omni Dallas Hotel, and then 240 golfers participated in the St. Jude Golf Classic on October 24 at Stonebriar Country Club.
The St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party and St. Jude Golf Classic have now raised more than $12 million for the hospital since they began, helping to ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle was honored at the St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party. Carlisle is an ambassador in the Hoops for St. Jude program, which unites the entire NBA community in supporting the St. Jude mission.
“St. Jude is one of the really special places in our country,” Carlisle said. “The research and what they do for sick kids is unbelievable. I enjoy every visit I can make to the hospital, especially spending time with the kids and their families. They inspire me and remind me of what real champions look like.”
The presenting sponsor for the St. Jude Evening Under the Stars Party was T-Mobile, Operated by Amtel. Chili’s Grill and Bar and 7-Eleven, Inc., were the title sponsors, and Jani-King International was the printing sponsor.
