Check-in procedure and maximum occupancy plan

Members should scan their ID cards at the welcome desk upon entering the Living Well Center. If you happen to forget your badge, ask the staff person on duty, and he or she will check you in. You must have your badge to check-in during unstaffed hours.

The maximum safe occupancy for the Living Well Center is 200 persons. Once maximum occupancy is reached, employees will be allowed to enter as others exit on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Dress code

The dress code is simple—we’re at work so a reasonable amount of modesty is expected. Be courteous to your colleagues by not wearing anything too revealing or suggestive. Follow the guidelines below and you should have a comfortable and safe work out. Anyone not following the dress code may be required to change or asked to leave; repeat offenders may lose membership privileges.

  • Sweats, modest shorts and similar items are considered appropriate attire.
  • Athletic shoes must be worn at all times.
  • Unaltered t-shirts and sleeveless shirts which cover the entire stomach, chest and back
    • No strappy tank tops or bra tops
    • No tops with gaping arm holes
    • No shirts cut off at the shoulder
  • No earrings larger than a quarter may be worn, and necklaces must remain underneath your t-shirt.
  • Sandals, flip flops, boots, black-soled shoes, jeans and any pants with buttons or hardware (zippers/rivets) and skirts are prohibited.

Lockers, locks and towels

Men’s and women’s locker rooms are provided for your convenience. You may use any locker you wish, but it’s recommended that you use a lock to secure your belongings.

Employees must bring their own towels for showering and workout purposes. All towels left behind will be disposed of.

As a courtesy to other employees, employees should limit shower time, especially during busy hours.

Group fitness room policies

The Group Fitness Room will be unlocked at all times, allowing employees to use the space individually during non-class hours. Items in the storage closet must remain during non-class hours.

Group fitness classes

Classes take place in the Group Fitness Room unless otherwise noted. Classes are at no cost and don’t require registration at this time.

If it's possible, come 5 to 10 minutes before a class and introduce yourself to the instructor. He or she will answer any of your questions, give you suggestions and keep an eye on you during class.

Use of cardio and resistance training equipment

During orientation, employees will learn the following:

  • Machine adjustment and safety
  • Cardio equipment start up and safety
  • Free weight safety and re-racking
  • Fitness floor etiquette
    • During busy times or whenever someone is waiting for a machine, observe the 30-minute time limit on all cardiovascular equipment
    • Please allow others to “work in” between sets
    • Wipe down equipment after each use
    • Use of chalk is not permitted
    • Re-rack weights
    • Weights may not be set against wall, mirror, benches or other equipment
    • Weights or dumbbells may not be dropped on any surface
  • Report damaged equipment immediately to Living Well Center staff

Emergency procedures

In the event of an emergency within the Living Well Center, notify a staff member immediately and follow the staff member's instructions.

If you have an injury or adverse reaction to exercise, please alert the staff so they may contact emergency services to assist you. Staff will call St. Jude Security by dialing “4444.”

Emergency exits are located in several locations within the facility.

Fitness assessments

Employees needing special assistance can schedule a personal fitness assessment by emailing livingwell@stjude.org.
