The St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend partners with the National Black Marathoners Association

08/23/2019

We're excited to announce that the National Black Marathoners Association (NBMA) is partnering with the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend! The NBMA is the largest nonprofit organization of its kind in the U.S., dedicated to encouraging African Americans and others to pursue a healthy lifestyle through distance running and walking.

Through this collaboration, the NBMA will be an official partner of the marathon in both 2019 and 2020. And in 2020, the NBMA will host its 16th annual summit during marathon weekend (Thursday, Dec. 3 - Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020).

The NBMA, along with our many other partners and all of our fundraisers, help ensure families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food.

Over the years, many NBMA members have participated in St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend, and several have fundraised as St. Jude Heroes, such as Kescia Muhammad, who was inspired to run as a Hero after a family friend survived childhood cancer thanks to St. Jude. Her first half and full marathons were at the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend.

“There’s nothing more gratifying than running through the St. Jude campus and actually seeing the patients and their families cheering you on,” said Muhammad. “I can’t wait for all of NBMA to experience the love.”
