Thank you for joining us on Sunday, March 3, 2024 for live entertainment, door prizes, our famous food and bake sale — and for making a donation live on-air. We hope you enjoyed coming together as a community to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Forty-four years ago, Tim Driscoll wanted to raise money for an organization that treated sick children free of charge. Of the two places he wrote to, St. Jude replied first. This correspondence marked the beginning of Driscoll's long commitment to the children of St. Jude.
Driscoll met St. Jude founder Danny Thomas on multiple occasions, and he became good friends with CEOs and board members. He attended many St. Jude gala events and national volunteer recognition banquets, and he received a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award from St. Jude in 2016. Driscoll saw the hospital grow from one small building to a campus full of cutting-edge, multi-story buildings. He took great pride in the fact that Litchfield County raised enough money to keep the hospital open for one day.
Driscoll began this fundraising quest out of the goodness of his heart. He had no prior connection to St. Jude and no real connection to cancer. What he had was a passion for children and a strong desire to help others in need.
On August 12, 2015, Driscoll earned his wings and joined Danny Thomas in heaven. It is our honor to continue his legacy and continue his fight against catastrophic childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. This has been tough to do without him, but we undoubtedly do our best. Our hope is to have a successful show and make him proud. We can just hear him say, “The show must go on!”
“Stay happy, stay healthy and God bless." - Tim Driscoll
