Comprehensive Cancer Center
The Comprehensive Cancer Center supports five major interdisciplinary research programs ¾ Developmental Biology and Solid Tumors, Hematological Malignancies, Neurobiology and Brain Tumors, Cancer Control and Survivorship Program, and Cancer Biology Program¾that are organized with the specific intent of translating basic science discoveries into curative therapies for children with cancer, while minimizing long-term side effects.

Infectious Diseases
Among the top infectious causes of death worldwide are respiratory diseases and HIV/AIDS. The Department of Infectious Diseases focuses on the pathogenesis of these infections with a breadth of commitment that extends from the research bench to the bedside.
Sickle Cell Disease
St. Jude has been researching sickle cell disease since the hospital opened in 1962. In fact, we have one of the largest the largest pediatric sickle cell programs in the country. Our milestones are many and include a St. Jude patient who was the first in the world to be cured of sickle cell anemia through a stem cell/bone marrow transplant. Additionally, St. Jude researches and provides expert care and treatment for children with many different types of blood disorders.
St. Jude Global
We have launched an ambitious initiative to improve access to care to children with cancer and life-threatening blood diseases in every corner of the world, and to develop plans to enhance its quality and provide better options for cure. Led by the Department of Global Pediatric Medicine, St. Jude Global will create a network of interactive institutions that will form a global alliance focused on reducing this gap worldwide.
