Susan Ybarra is a Program Coordinator, Retinoblastoma Transversal Program for the department of Global Pediatric Medicine.
Susan has a lifelong commitment of building relationships focused on improving health outcomes through the implementation of innovative, data-driven solutions. She spent thirteen years on the Texas/Mexico border, where she helped establish a large pediatric practice that dramatically improved access to care for children and families in the under resourced community. After moving to South Carolina in 2005, she joined Bon Secours as Practice Administrator for a multi-provider OB/GYN practice.
Most recently, Susan was part of the Institute for the Advancement of Community Health at Furman University. She helped establish the institute and its goal of facilitating high impact student experiences and community engaged research, serving as Director of Operations before being named Executive Director in 2020. In May 2022, she co-directed the Furman Global Health and Medicine study away program in Lisbon, Portugal.
Susan enjoys learning new languages, spending time with family and traveling.
