Andrea Michelle Odonez Quetto, MD
- Program Coordinator – Clinical Fellow
Departments
Andrea was born in Guatemala City, Guatemala. She is the daughter of two pediatricians and has a younger brother who is a successful lawyer.
She studied medicine in Guatemala, where she discovered her passion for oncology during her rotations in public hospitals. Andrea then moved to Mexico City to pursue a pediatrics degree at one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the country, graduating with honors. Afterward, she returned to her hometown, married her soulmate, and completed a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at UNOP, one of St. Jude Global's programs, graduating at the top of her class. As part of her fellowship, she completed observerships in Colorado and at St. Jude in 2023.
Following her fellowship, Andrea had a beautiful baby boy who accompanied her on an observership in bone marrow transplant (BMT) in Monza, Italy, when he was just two months old. It was quite an adventure! Throughout her journey, she has received unwavering support from her family.
Andrea's dream is to ensure that children in her country have access to all available therapies without leaving their home. She plans to return to Guatemala to apply the knowledge and experiences she gained at St. Jude and establish a BMT unit with her team back home.
