Gail Hollaway, RN, MSN
As a lifelong Memphian, Gail had heard the praises of St. Jude sung many times. Driving past the gold dome of the Danny Thomas Pavilion, she often wondered what experiences were being lived out behind the doors of this well-known facility. On June 2, 2002, Gail's curiosity turned to awe as she officially became a member of the St. Jude family. She began her career as a clinic nurse in the Solid Tumor Ambulatory Care Unit. Working with the physicians and nurse practitioners, she had the privilege of caring for some of the most amazing children and their families. Their spirit of love, commitment to hope and strength of resolve were inspiring.
"As a clinical research nurse, my responsibilities have taken a different direction. My duties involve managing the Children’s Oncology Group Phase I/ Phase II protocols. Working with the Solid Tumor multidisciplinary team, I assist in coordinating the appropriate care and monitoring of patients on these studies. Our goal is to fulfill Danny Thomas’ dream, 'That no child should die in the dawn of life.'"
