Karlisa Cryer is a medical content writer in the HPV Cancer Prevention Program at St. Jude, a program which aims to reduce human papillomavirus (HPV) cancer deaths locally and nationally by increasing HPV vaccination rates.

“A major part of my work is centered around using health communication best practices to convey the importance of HPV vaccination through various communication channels for parents and caregivers, clinicians, and program partners.”

In May 2023, Cryer joined the HPV program, after working as a digital marketing specialist for FedEx Services. In that role, she dedicated two years to improving the digital experience for customers on FedEx.com. Additionally, she held the position of communications project specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2018, where her responsibilities included crafting award nomination letters for our esteemed physicians. Later in 2020, she served as the digital content lead for the Dream Home giveaway campaign at ALSAC/St. Jude. Her expertise spans across various fields, including non-profit management, digital marketing, project management, and healthcare communication.

Cryer was selected for the Young Memphis class of 2020 by the Greater Memphis Chamber. The Young Memphis recognition initiative is designed to cultivate and showcase exceptional young professionals in the Greater Memphis area. 

Cryer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in communications from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Master of Public Administration degree from Tennessee State University.  She enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, traveling, and reading. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
