Hunter's story
Hunter, at the age of 11, has chosen to meet hardship with humor. Why? “Because being sad and depressed all the time, that's not a life good for living,” he said.

Hunter was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in June 2023. He was referred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital right away.
The cancer had spread from Hunter’s right tibia and fibula into the surrounding soft tissue. It was determined that the leg could not be saved, and in August, he underwent amputation.
He leans into the fact that people notice his prosthetic leg with a collection of light-hearted t-shirts that reference it. The shirts say things like “Shark Cage Tester” and “Leg Story, Twenty Bucks.”
Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — so they can focus on helping their child live.
Hunter has also received chemotherapy and proton therapy at St. Jude, and his parents are very proud of the determination he has shown in fighting through pain and discomfort. “Hunter has no quit in him,” said his dad.
St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer, no matter where they live.
