Hundreds of survivors and their families returned to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital campus September 9 for a celebration filled with reunions, reflections and a rodeo-themed day of camaraderie.
Both current patients and long-term survivors attended Survivors’ Day, where Charles Roberts, MD, PhD, St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center director and executive vice president, welcomed the guests and provided updates on hospital activities and progress. A survivor recognition and awards ceremony followed the presentation.
The event’s featured speaker was physician Wendy Harpham, MD, a 26-year cancer survivor, best-selling author and nationally recognized presenter.
Activities included a variety of rodeo and Western-themed games, live music, a photo booth with props, group photos of the survivors by decade of diagnosis and a barbecue lunch.
