A world-class adventure awaited St. Jude siblings earlier this month as they participated in a day of Amazing Race activities on the hospital campus as part of Sibling Star Day.
The annual event honors the brothers and sisters of St. Jude patients and their contributions to the care team. The St. Jude Child Life Program coordinates the event.
About 50 siblings participated, joining one of the four teams to compete at stations representing four different world regions. The children were wrapped in toilet paper as Egyptian mummies, raced scooters through a Monaco track, bowled with penguins in Antarctica and kept a giant inflatable soccer ball aloft to celebrate France. Child Life specialists and hospital volunteers served as team tour guides during the journey.
After the race, siblings enjoyed a catered lunch and received T-shirts, sunglasses and certificates that recognized them as Sibling Super Stars. The siblings exited the event in style as they walked a red carpet lined with cheering parents, employees and supporters.
