Is St. Jude a good charity?

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Our dedication to this mission has driven ALSAC, the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude, to be named one of the top healthcare charities in the United States.

Thanks to support from our generous donors, St. Jude has achieved a 94% survival rate for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a type of blood cancer, up from 4% in 1962.

What percentage of my donation supports patients and research?

Unlike other hospitals, the majority of funding for St. Jude comes from generous donors. Eighty-two cents of every dollar donated to St. Jude over the last seven years has gone toward funding research, treatment and our operations. The remaining 18 cents support fundraising efforts, such as the St. Jude Walk/Run, and administration costs.

Your support helps patients like Tam

Tam was four years old when he started to feel sick in 2017. After undergoing a CT scan, he was diagnosed with anaplastic ependymoma, a fast-growing cancerous brain tumor. Tam underwent surgery in his home state of California before being referred to St. Jude.

Tam's dad said St. Jude soon became a second home. Tam received radiation treatment and chemotherapy before going home less than a year later in 2018. He returns to St. Jude for regular checkups every year.
