Prepare for Day One FAQ

Day One

 
  1. All employees must complete their I-9 verification on their first day with ALSAC. Please be prepared to provide two forms of identification for your I-9 Verification.

  2. Immunization Verification

    We ask all employees reporting to our ALSAC Headquarters/National Executive Office in Memphis verify that they have received their Varicella and MMR vaccines.

    Please send a copy of your shot record to ALSACVaccinations@alsac.stjude.org or be prepared to provide your shot record on your first day.

    If you are unable to access your shot record, ALSAC will assist you in obtaining these vaccines through our partnership with the Shot Nurse. More information will be shared during the onboarding process. 

  3. If you're reporting to a Territory or Home Office, you should receive your ALSAC technology at your home address two days prior to your official start date. Be aware that you will have to sign for your equipment when it is delivered.

    Do not log into your computer prior to onboarding. Someone from our tech support team will walk you through setting up your computer on Day One.

  4. Employees reporting to the ALSAC Headquarters/National Executive Office in Memphis will receive a badge on Day One. Please come prepared to have your photo taken.

    Employees onboarding from a Territory or Home Office will submit a badge photo on Day One. Please review our photography best practices below and have your photo ready before onboarding. 

    Photography best practices: 

    • Use a plain, smooth, solid white, off-white or light gray background.
      • Background should be plain with no patterns, objects, textures, other people, etc.
      • No paneled doors, trees, bricks, car interiors, wood, etc.
      • No car selfies or other objects in the background.
    • Leave space around the sides of your face and above your head in the photo.
      • Don’t crop the top of your head or hair out of the frame.
      • Your photo should look like a passport photo.
    • Shoulders and face must squarely face the camera.
      • Your head must not be tilted or turned to one side or shown in profile.
      • Don't tilt or turn one of your shoulders toward the camera.
    • Adjust your hair and clothing so that your entire face is visible.
      • No hats, sunglasses, hands or other objects that obscure your face.
      • Hair should not obscure facial features or eyes.
    • Use lighting that highlights both sides of your face equally.
      • Take your picture where there is good lighting, or use the flash when necessary.
      • Avoid lighting that casts a shadow around your eyes or one side of your face.
      • Your glasses should not show any reflection.

Your arrival

No matter your work location, you're part of a community at ALSAC.

 
  1. When: Employees reporting to ALSAC Headquarters/National Executive Office (NEO) should plan to arrive by 9:10 a.m. on their official start date.

    Where: ALSAC National Executive Office - Tamer-Rashid Building (TRB)
    Located on the St. Jude Campus
    501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105

    *Please bring a photo ID with you on site.

    • Enter off A.W. Willis. This entrance will be Gate 4 as shown on the map. (Please enter on the left lane closest to the Security booth.) Inform Security it is your first day at ALSAC and provide your driver’s license. 
    • Once you pass through the gate, continue on the main road, and you may park in Garage Y (to your left). 
    • When you walk out of either garage, you will cross the street and continue down the sidewalk toward the Tamer-Rashid Building building (OA on the map).

    Please enter through the main entrance, check in at the front desk, share your name with our team and tell them you are a new employee.

    **Please note: If the doors are not open when you arrive, please use the call button near the badge reader to connect with the front desk.

  2. Employees based in one of our Territory offices need to connect with their hiring manager for directions to the office and instructions for entering the building. Please be prepared to join onboarding virtually from a personal device. You'll receive onboarding instructions from ALSAC's Employee Experience team, but if have questions, please contact WelcomeToALSAC@alsac.stjude.org.

  3. Employees based in a home office will receive instructions for joining remotely from ALSAC's Employee Experience team prior to Day One. Please be prepared to join onboarding from a personal device. If you haven't received instructions by Day One, please contact WelcomeToALSAC@alsac.stjude.org

FAQ

You have questions? We have answers!

 
  1. ALSAC follows a casual-dress policy, which means employees can be casually dressed but must be neat, well-groomed and appropriately dressed while at work. You're welcome to come casually dressed for Day One.

  2. For your first day, we provide lunch for all new full-time employees who are on the NEO campus. If you have any questions about the lunch being provided, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at WelcometoALSAC@alsac.stjude.org.

    You're welcome to bring your lunch if you wish. We have break areas, microwaves, refrigerators and vending machines at all of our offices and on every floor at ALSAC headquarters. And bonus, all items in our vending machines are only 25 cents! We also offer complimentary coffees and teas.

  3. If you're based in a Territory or Home Office and you haven't received your ALSAC technology by mail two days prior to your official start date, please contact WelcomeToALSAC@alsac.stjude.org.

    If you're reporting to ALSAC Headquarters on the St. Jude Campus, you'll receive your technology in person on Day One. 

  4. All employees, including remote, will receive their login credentials from Information Security on Day One of onboarding. Please do not log into your computer prior to Day One.

  5. We recommend waiting until you have been at ALSAC for at least one week prior to making any changes to your preferred name. Making changes prior to your information syncing through all of our systems can cause errors or delays in your access to our systems.
