Annual St. Jude Seminars and Symposia

  1. Presented by the Professional Excellence Council, this seminar aims to encourage attendees to develop healthy coping strategies for everyday life situations. Past topics include keeping cool in difficult situations, addressing problems with creative solutions, and learning how to reduce stress.

  2. This annual symposium brings together a group of the world's leading investigators in basic science and clinical and translational research to discuss recent advances and the future of childhood cancer as well as other catastrophic diseases.

  3. This course is a beginner’s level introductory class to the Child Life profession designed for current Child Life students, future Child Life students, and prospective interns with a realistic view of the Child Life role in a hospital setting.

  4. With a participant-informed topic selected each year, this 3-day conference focuses on the exchange of innovative ideas among medical and pediatric oncologists (fellows, residents), nurse practitioners, oncology nurses, and other associated allied health professionals.

  5. Modeled after the Southeastern Residents Conference (SERC), this 2-day conference provides an opportunity for post-graduate pharmacy trainees in the mid-south region to formally present the results of their research and major projects, and allows for fellowship, relationship development, and collegial sharing of ideas and information.

  6. This 2-day course addresses all aspects of HIV management in infants, children, adolescents and young persons, and presents evidence-based data to optimize clinical practice. The course is intended for individuals that are interested in expanding their knowledge in HIV/AIDS care.

  7. This 2-day educational course presents the current surgical management of children with malignant solid tumors for general pediatric surgical fellows and junior faculty who are COG Institutional Surgery RIs.

  8. This 2-day conference is designed to provide practical information relating to current issues in the area of pediatric hematology/oncology in a relaxed and interactive atmosphere for affiliate and St. Jude hematology/oncology nurses, nurse practitioners, clinical research associates, and other health care professionals.

  9. This 2-day research conference features presentations from leading investigators in infectious diseases and microbiology, and holds a series of career development workshops, including sessions on career paths in industry, government, and academia. All PIDS members are encouraged to attend.

  10. This symposium presents updates on current diagnosis, treatment, and management of opportunistic infections in transplant patients, identifies research gaps in transplant ID, and elucidates how different immunosuppressive agents predispose to specific infectious diseases.
